Dr. Alfred brings a rare combination of life experience, academic formation, and over 25 years of counseling ministry to the Soul Therapy center. A native of Ville Platte, Louisiana, Dr. Alfred served four years in the United States Marine Corps before pursuing a career as a Program Manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
Called to full-time ministry, Dr. Alfred left NASA to become Senior Pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in 2008 — where he has served for over 16 years and helped grow the congregation to more than 2,000 members. As Director of the St. John Biblical Counseling Center, he leads Soul Therapy with the same discipline, precision, and faith that have marked every chapter of his life.
Dr. Alfred is a certified Biblical Counselor with both the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC), and has devoted more than a quarter century to helping hurting people find hope through the Word of God.

Soul Therapy is not only a place to receive care — it is a place to be equipped to give it. The St. John Biblical Counseling Center offers training and mentorship for those called to the ministry of biblical counseling, including a pathway toward IABC certification.
Dr. Alfred personally leads training sessions and mentors candidates through the certification process, drawing on 25+ years of counseling experience and his ACBC and IABC credentials.
